What wildlife do you remove in Hamilton?

Each has its own service page with the process, seasons and prevention.

How does wildlife removal work?
Wildlife removal works in five steps: inspect, plan, remove, seal and follow up. We find how the animal got in and whether young are present, give you the price, remove the animals humanely with one-way doors or live traps, seal every entry point and check that nothing is still inside. Sealing is what stops it happening again.
- Inspection. Roofline, attic, vents, soffits, decks and foundation. We look for entry points, damage and young. Every quote starts with a home inspection.
- Plan and price. What we’ll do, how long it takes and the cost, before work starts.
- Humane removal. One-way doors let animals leave on their own. When trapping is needed, animals are released within 1 km of where they were caught, as Ontario law requires. Babies are removed by hand and reunited with the mother.
- Sealing and repairs. Steel mesh, vent guards, chimney caps, soffit and roof-vent repairs.
- Follow-up. We check that the animals are gone and stand behind the sealed entry points.
How much does wildlife removal cost in Hamilton?
The cost depends on the animal, the number of entry points, the height and pitch of the roof, whether babies are present and how much repair is needed. Raccoons in a roof usually cost more than a single bird in a vent. You get a price after the inspection, before any work starts.

When is wildlife season in Hamilton?
Hamilton wildlife problems follow the seasons. Raccoons and squirrels have babies in attics in spring, skunks dig under decks in late winter and spring, bats roost in attics in summer, and in fall raccoons, squirrels and mice look for a warm place for winter. Calling early, before babies arrive or before the cold, usually means less damage.
| Season | What we see most in Hamilton |
|---|---|
| Late winter (Feb–Mar) | Skunk mating and denning; squirrels and raccoons choosing nest sites |
| Spring (Apr–Jun) | Raccoon and squirrel babies in attics; skunks under decks |
| Summer (Jun–Aug) | Bat maternity colonies (exclusion waits until pups can fly); birds in vents |
| Fall (Sep–Nov) | Raccoons, squirrels and mice moving in for winter; second squirrel litters |
| Winter (Dec–Jan) | Mice and rats indoors; raccoons denning in attics |

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer after-hours wildlife removal in Hamilton?
Call 289-799-3655 and describe what is happening. If we miss you after hours, leave a message — we return calls in the morning. If a person may have been bitten or scratched, contact a doctor or public health right away.
Can you just trap the animal and move it far away?
No. In Ontario, nuisance wildlife that is live-trapped must be released within 1 kilometre of where it was caught. Moving animals far away is illegal and usually fatal for them. It also doesn’t fix the problem: another animal will use the same opening. Sealing the entry point is the long-term fix.
What is your guarantee?
Hamilton Wildlife stands behind its exclusion work. If wildlife gets back in through an entry point we sealed, we come back and fix it. The guarantee covers the openings we sealed, not new damage elsewhere on the house.
Do you remove wildlife from businesses?
Yes. We remove wildlife from Hamilton businesses including restaurants, warehouses, offices, retail stores, schools and multi-unit buildings. Commercial jobs follow the same inspect, remove and seal process, scheduled to keep disruption to staff and customers low.
Will home insurance pay for wildlife damage?
It depends on your policy. Many home insurance policies exclude damage caused by rodents and wildlife, while some cover sudden damage such as a raccoon tearing open a roof. Check with your insurer before work starts.
